Big Sky Resort in southwestern Montana has been named North America’s favorite ski resort by visitors to OnTheSnow.com, winning the top honors in this year’s Visitors’ Choice Awards. The Visitors’ Choice Awards, selected by visitors to OnTheSnow.com, are the most comprehensive user-generated ski resort awards in the world. Awards are presented for both overall and regional winners and include five categories: Favorite Overall Resort, Best Downhill Terrain, Most Family Friendly, Best Terrain Park and Best Nightlife.
“The Visitors’ Choice Awards help to paint an accurate portrait of the resort experiences of our visitors at OnTheSnow.com,” global content director Patrick Crawford said. “They allow North American skiers and snowboarders to have their voices heard amongst their peers regarding the sport they know and love.”
To receive the award the ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, is selected. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain and Best Terrain Park.
This year Big Sky Resort took home the honors thanks to great terrain, consistent snow and non-existent lift lines. Keystone Resort was awarded Best Terrain Park and the chutes, glades, steeps, cliffs and bowls of Snowbird helped the resort win the Best Terrain Award. Deer Valley won the award for Best Family Resort and Whistler Blackcomb took the crown for best nightlife.
